YouTube Music App Review

What is YouTube Music?

YouTube Music is an app very similar to Spotify and other music apps. You can use it to listen to music, find music from your favorite artists, and get music recommendations. It can even help you find songs you don’t know the name of by searching for lyrics or descriptions. It has many features that help make it the best choice for this type of app, though it does require you to pay for a premium subscription if you really want the best features, such as ad free enjoyment of music, downloading your music, and having it continue to play when you lock your phone or open another app.

Should you get YouTube Music?

For the most part, this app is just an amped up version of YouTube. So if you already use YouTube a lot, you’ll probably enjoy using this app as well. It does pretty much everything that YouTube does, but also some things it doesn’t, like the aforementioned ability to search for songs just with their lyrics or descriptions. That said there’s really no reason to not use YouTube Music if you use regular YouTube often already. It’s just a step up in every conceivable way.

This does not imply that the app is without fault; it has many bugs that impair its ability to function from time to time, and of course, there are still ads to deal with if you don’t pay for a premium subscription. And whether or not the format and layout of the app will be to your liking is down to your personal preference. Those are things you’ll have to experience yourself to determine whether or not they make or break the experience for you.

However, one thing worth noting is that YouTube Music is handled by Google, so you can at least rely on them to be constantly updating and improving the app as it continues to grow. They do listen to feedback and often make changes to please their viewers better, so bugs are constantly being fixed and updates often address issues that users have with the app.

-Possesses many features that standard YouTube doesn’t have, an overall superior experience

-Is run by Google, so updates are consistent and often

-Still plays ads without premium subscription, best features are locked behind premium

Details: Age Range, OS, Etc.

Because you can stumble across any sort of extremely unsavory or troubling content on YouTube, this app is rated 17 and up. In App purchases are mostly limited to paying for a premium subscription, and the OS for the app is iOS 10.0 and up. For Android, the required OS varies by specific device, so you’ll have to go and see for yourself if your phone is compatible.
