Amaze! Game App Review
What is Amaze!?
Amaze! Is a painting puzzle game in which you must fill each square of a maze with color. You do this by moving a ball across the space you are provided, though the ball can only travel in a straight line, and it always travels to the opposite end of the open space, coloring everything as it goes. Once you fill the entire puzzle with color, you clear the stage and can move onto more complex and challenging puzzles.
Should you get Amaze!?
It’s important to understand that this is a puzzle game first and foremost. That means that there are solutions to each stage, as they are set up in a way that requires you to take certain steps in order to clear them. You can’t just swipe the ball around willy-nilly and expect to make any decent headway. That said, these puzzles aren’t incredibly difficult; they certainly won’t be stumping you for hours on end or forcing you to look for walkthrough videos, but they do require some degree of thought, which makes the game a fair balance of difficulty and casual gameplay.
On the other hand, the only variety in the game is the shape of the puzzles you end up clearing, as well as the color you are filling them with. In other words, the puzzles and the core gameplay are the only content in the game, which means it probably won’t keep people that are looking for a varied experience entertained for very long. This is a puzzle game at its core, and the puzzles are the only thing to do. If you go in knowing and expecting that, as well as wanting it, then you shouldn’t be disappointed.
That said, there are a fair deal of ads you have to contend with, which harass you from time to time throughout the gameplay. They aren’t completely ridiculous, but they are a minor nuisance that some players might be irritated by. In the end though, these ads only slightly affect one’s enjoyment of the game, especially since this is a free to play game.
-Plenty of levels to go through
-A good balance between challenge and simplicity
-No other gameplay elements outside of the core can make the game stale over time
Details: Age Range, OS, Etc.
The game is rated T for Teen, but that is not because of the game itself; rather, this rating is to cover the content one may see in ads, which can include a wide array of things. The required OS is Android 4.4 or iOS 10.0 and up. The game is free to download and play but there are in-app purchases.
